Dr. Chris Kusek began his teaching career in the Olathe School District in 2009 and is currently the Orchestra Teacher at Chisholm Trail Middle School in Olathe, KS, where he teaches daily over 180 sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade students the violin, viola, cello, and string bass. During a typical school year, students will also explore the electric violin, electric viola, electric cello, electric bass, piano, and with a few students, the guitar and ukulele. Dr. Kusek holds a leadership role at the school as an active member of the Building Leadership Team, where he works closely with administration and other staff members in the planning of professional development, data evaluation, development of school improvement plans, and other various building-wide and district-wide tasks. He is also the Master of Ceremonies for all pep assemblies. Dr. Kusek is a member of the Institutional Review Board for MidAmerica Nazarene University, and he is a member of the Board of Directors for the Olathe Youth Symphony Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. In addition to teaching full time, he has performed with various church worship bands and served as the Conductor for Les Miserables: School Edition for the Theatre in the Park in Shawnee, KS. Additionally, Dr. Kusek held a sixth-month position with Jacob’s Well Church in Kansas City, MO as the Interim Grade School Coordinator, a pastoral position in the Kids Community, where he managed the initiation, development, organization, and leading of the spiritual formation of first- to fifth-grade kids on Sunday mornings during two church services.
